Important Notice

Municipal Court sessions are suspended until further notice in order to mitigate public exposure to COVID-19

For this period, individuals scheduled to appear before the municipal court to contest a traffic or parking ticket, a minor local ordinance violation, or other matter should instead await notice of a new court date.

Defendants may continue to make payments for parking and traffic matters through the municipal court’s online payment website at NJMCdirect.com.

Due to the municipal court building being officially closed, no in-person payments can be accepted at the court window.

Defendants may also continue to mail-in payments. A court staff member will be available for over the phone payments between the hours of 9:00 am – 2:00 pm, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Municipal Court and Violations Bureau

The Municipal Court office/ Violations Bureau handles all criminal complaints, ordinance violations and traffic tickets issued in the municipality. This includes complaints and tickets issued by Chesilhurst Police. This office schedules cases for hearings, arrange the court calendar, records court proceedings, and assists the judge in court. The Court office/Violations bureau collects all fines and accepts bail for outstanding warrants.

Who do I make my check or money order payable to?

Chesilhurst Municipal Court

Should I include my summons or complaint number on my check or money order?

Yes, please include your summons or complaint number to insure you receive credit for your payment.

Do you accept credit cards as a form of payment?

Yes, this office accepts Visa, Mastercard and Debit.

What if my ticket is not paid by the date that appears at the bottom of the ticket? (Located on the ticket where it says notice to appear).

If your ticket is not paid by the due date, there will be a $10 late fee added.

My ticket is not marked court appearance required; how do I know if I should appear?

If your ticket is not marked court appearance required then most likely you do not need to appear, however if your ticket is not marked court appearance required and is a more serious violation then you should call the court to determine whether you should appear or not.

Are my fines due in full?

All fines are due in full. If you appear in court, you will be expected to pay all fines on that date.

I do not have transportation to come to court.

We do not provide transportation, so if you need transportation you must make arrangements before your court date, we will not postpone your court date due to transportation issues.

What do I do when I get to court?

When you appear in court have a seat in the courtroom. Court Staff will advise you what to do at that time.

Can I pay my ticket, traffic or criminal time payment order online?

Yes. Payable traffic tickets, traffic and criminal time payment orders can be paid online at www.nimcdirect,com.
